Howdy, I'm Romans:

I am a portrait photographer. You can reach me at rpancs@gmail.com.

This is also me. And this, too.

A photograph is fifty per cent what is in the frame and fifty per cent what is outside.

A photograph is a portrait if both inside and outside the frame the mind’s eye recognises people who recognise each other.

A photograph is a portrait if—even for just a briefest of moments—the person inside the frame and the person outside are one and the same. Sometimes the only person outside the frame is the photographer, in which case the portrait turns out well if the subject and the photographer recognise themselves in each other. Sometimes the person outside the frame is only in the mind’s eye of the subject. Sometimes the subject is only in the mind’s eye of the viewer.

A photograph steals the soul if outside the frame, there is no one.
